Spin Class
2007 -- 12x14x3" -- wall mounted
Spin Class uses the doll torsos remaining from the other
"Doll Part Pieces" to make a simple model
of magnetic spins -- called a Spin Glass in the real world.
Stepper motors rotate the torsos on axis and as one rotates
its neighbors try to maintain a balance of direction. The
system eventually settles into a stable pattern, but eventually
noise interferes and a torso will flip, setting the whole thing
in motion again. A sensor at the bottom detects proximity and
adds more noise the closer someone gets.
